The set contains one jar of 950 ml with a special lid with mesh. The mesh is used to provide the sprouting seeds with an air supply and, at the same time, a space for excess water to drain off after rinsing. The set also includes a rack, where you can safely place the jars bottom up, and a tray to catch any run-off water.
With this solution, you can grow sprouts of all sorts of seeds in a very simple way, while keeping your kitchen inorder and clean. The single-glass set takes up no more space than necessary, making it easy to place even in smaller interiors.
The set is also easy to maintain. The jar is made of clear glass, which is health-safe, doesn’t react with any stored food and is easy to wash. The lid is made of stainless steel.
Sprouting has never been easier.
All about sprouting
Sprouting is the easiest way to increase the nutritional value of seeds, cereals or legumes. The sprouting process is the first stage of growing a new plant, requiring a variety of substances that are also beneficial to humans.
After sprouting, the seeds therefore have a significantly increased content of vitamins, enzymes, amino acids, fibre and minerals, and in a form that our bodies can easily absorb and use.
You can easily and affordably germinate seeds at home. Growing sprouts promotes self-sufficiency and sustainability.
Benefits of germination
- Higher nutrient content
- Better absorption and usability
- A milder taste of seeds and legumes
- Lower content of flatulence-causing substances
- Reduction of heat treatment time
What can be sprouted
** Any seeds **of vegetables, cereals and herbs are suitable for sprouting. ** Legumes **such as peas, beans, lentils and mung beans are also often sprouted. Sunflower, pumpkin and flax seeds, radishes, buckwheat, alfalfa, barley, spelt, oats and many other seeds can also be sprouted.
The sprouted seeds can be used in hot and cold cuisine. Whether you decide to process them further e.g. into porridges, spreads, smoothies or dips, garnish soup, salad, pastries or dessert with them, or just eat them raw.
Note
This set is not suitable for sprouting seeds that form a jelly-like gel. These include, for example, watercress, chia seeds and arugula. This is because after soaking this type of seeds and forming a gel, the rotting process starts. We recommend that you only spray these seeds in a germination tray.
Method of use
Soak the seeds in water, rinse them thoroughly, and remove any damaged pieces or impurities. Use only whole, undamaged, chemically untreated and unhulled seeds for germination, ideally of organic quality.
- Place the seeds in a jar, screw on the lid, and fill the jar with water until it's about three-quarters full. Leave soaked at room temperature for 5–12 hours (depending on seed type).
- Then pour off the water and rinse the seeds. Turn the jar upside down, place it in a rack and place it on a flat surface near a window at room temperature of about 20 °C, out of direct sunlight. Rinse 2–3 times a day with cold water, ensuring you drain it each time.
- After a few days, the seeds germinate. The length of germination depends on the type of seed and the ambient temperature. Sprouts are immediately ready to eat.
- It is also possible to continue to store them in the refrigerator, where their growth will slow down. Rinse them with water before eating.
This pack contains
